Willow Creek Horse Camp, Keystone, South Dakota

After spending four days in a crowded, noisy campground, we were ready to move on and Willow Creek Horse Camp is like a cure. It is quiet and peaceful and beautiful.
Yes, the Mount Rushmore KOA has lots of amenities, but peace and quiet and nature is an amenity as well.

We are in Campsite #5 which is away from the main campground. Sites 1-3 are for non-equestrians and located next to the creek in the lower part of the campground. Sites 6-9 are in the main horse camp, close to the vault toilet and water trough for water.
This is a primitive site, no electricity, no sewer, and the water is contaminated with E Coli (there is a sign on the pump). Luckily, we are right across the street from the KOA, so if we need anything we can just drive across the street.

Nobody is in Campsite #4, so we have put Mercy in the corral for Campsite #4. That way he isn't terrorized by Lennox.

The corrals have no cover, but they are a good size.

The trails here are so beautiful. We feel so blessed to be able to ride this gorgeous country.
